This may be the most controversial of moves, but the question at hand for Celtic is just how to best maximize Dembele’s performance at the club. On the one hand, is Dembele ever going to be a more sought after prospect than he is now. On the other hand, Celtic have a need for quality striking options and aren’t likely to find a better one on the market now or in the summer transfer window.

We must also take in to consideration that Rodgers is using this transfer window to build the squad that will take this team in to the Champions League next season. That means building as much quality and depth as humanly possible.

Right now, Celtic don’t exactly have a lot of said depth up front, and that makes making this move questionable at best right now.

The question surrounding Dembele seems a matter of when, not if, he leaves the club.

Celtic just need to make sure they’re getting the best value they can. I just don’t believe that the best value comes in the January transfer window, but do believe the Hoops board would be stupid not to entertain some valuations and pull the trigger on a deal if it comes in around the £40 million range.
