Celtic’s schedule has been intense already this season, but as the calendar turns to December things are about to turn up a notch or 11.
With a game nearly every three days this month, the Bhoys are faced with the most difficult run towards its quest for the domestic treble. That all starts with today’s visit to Fir Park to take on Motherwell.
Celtic Starting XI:
Motherwell Starting XI:
Celtic come in to this one looking to get full points it appears, putting out basically its full squad. There is but one notable exception to that, as Eric Sviatchenko doesn’t appear on the team sheet at all. In his place is the returning Kolo Toure, who we’ve seen on the bench more than on the pitch since his disaster night against Borussia Monchengladbach.
What I do find more interesting than the starters for Celtic is who exactly populates the bench for this match. Like I mentioned before, there’s no real cover at center back for the Bhoys, as Sviatchenko is nowhere to be found. Instead, Celtic prefer to go with the likes of Toure to start and Boyata as cover.

Additionally, Leigh Griffiths isn’t seen on the bench either despite a run out in the League Cup final last week.
There is also the second-straight inclusion of Gordon Mackay-Steven on the bench, and if the League Cup final was any indication, Rodgers may be keen to get him on the pitch once again. Could it be the beginning of the end for James Forrest on the outside?
Outside of that, no big surprises for Celtic given their recent form and the rash of injuries affecting the normal Starting XI.
